Labneh Spread

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces yogurt, whole milk Greek
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • sea salt, for garnish
  • Fresh herbs, for garnish

This traditional Middle Eastern spread is delicious and fresh tasting. Serve with grilled pita and assorted vegetables for an appetizer.

Instructions

  1. Mix together Greek yogurt, salt, and lemon juice.
  2. Transfer mixture to a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth.
  3. Wrap the mixture in the cheesecloth and let strain in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours over a bowl. The longer it strains, the thicker it will become.
  4. Once thickened, remove from cheese cloth and top the spread with olive oil, a pinch of sea salt, and fresh herbs.
  5. Serve with grilled pita and assorted seasonal vegetables.
